Fazilpur -- A Heart touching Experience

Updates of 23th August 2010

While working in Sind, a phone call of a friend who was a part of our Faazilpur network was received from Dera Ghazi Khan; he shared a heart touching experience of selflessness that boosts our confidence on our nation a lot............

In Fazilpur, we served 17 families that were resident in a workshop at the roadside in much troubled conditions; as per our local sources they belong to white color families who used to maintain high integrity. Due to these unfortunate circumstances they become dependable on others. We served them silently with 17 Ration packages and returned back. What we heard afterwards was that they picked those packages and went back to their flooded village that was still surrounded by water and a couple of their fellow villagers were stranded there; they distributed their complete ration to these stranded persons by saying as this place is still surrounded by water so there is more need of this stuff here and they returned empty handed inspite of the fact that they themselves were in a severe need at that time.

By hearing this all; my faith in our nation was strengthened up more, with these sort of people around we would face such catastrophies of life smoothly Inshallah

Dera Ghazi Khan – Completion of Phase-1

Updates of 21st August 2010

After completion of our work in Faazilpur citythe team stationed @ D.G. Khan decided to move to Sind and joined hands with the team that reached out there a couple of days back and was assessing the Sukkur and Khairpur areas.

While having D.G.Khan as our base camp for this phase we were able to serve Shadan Lundd, Fazilpur -- Punjab and Kohlu -- Baluchistan. Wherever we served our priority and focus remained not to go for a Blind distribution / dumping. We tried our best to reach out the people with the assistance / verification of local networks, assess there needs and then did the required disbursement.

Our local network would remain active in Dera Ghazi Khan to assess the further needs specifically in Jampur city and Ghazzi Ghhat areas that would definitely be needing further assistance while the water recedes. Once we got proper leads from there we would be intitiating a phase-2 as per our serving capacity.

As planned we would be reaching Sukkur tomorrow morning @ 4AM around. Do remember in prayers

Dera Ghazi Khan – Fazilpur serving Details

Updates of 21st August 2010:

As indicated in the earlier post for the thread relevant to our activities in Dera Ghazi Khan; after our return from Kohlu, Baluchistan we confirmed that registration related work is almost done for the Faazilpur city with the help of recently established network of locals so we decided to extend our stay in Punjab so to carry up this task. With the help of available listings, we conducted a sort of door to door assessment phase for the people that were scattered @ various locations including a road side workshop, a primary school, cotton ginning factory, a relief camp setup by Qatar charity and some other places. After confirmation of the listings we sorted out around 200 families for the disbursement of dry food and eventually distributed the following stuff:

180 bags of 10 kg of Flour (Flour is short in these areas due to roads cutoff)
200 bags of 1 kg Daal Chanaa
200 bags of 1 kg Daal Moong
200 bags of 1 kg Sugar
200 packets of 1 kg Ghee
200 bags of Tea weighing 100 grams

Khairpur – Transported remaining 2 trucks, on field Assessment and Departure

Updates of 25th of August 2010

Remaining two trucks carrying Kitchen Sets and Washing & Bath Soaps were unloaded in the district office of SRSO. We went with one of the assessment team instead of distribution teams today because former ones leave early and later ones leave late and we had to depart for Karachi in the evening. Once we came back from the assessment field, we pack up and check out to leave for Karachi. We will be followed by another team from Karachi in a couple of days time insha’Allah. In the mean while we have instructed the SRSO to continue their assessment and distribution of Kitchen Sets and Washing & Bath Soaps to needy families. We will get daily updates from them and our second team will join them to work on future projects very soon.

Images will be posted soon.
